Musical triumphs continue for the Johnson High School Band, the latest being a Superior rating at the Texas A & M University-Kingsville 45th Annual Jazz Festival. The Johnson High School Jazz Band competed on March 24 along with about 20 other high school jazz bands from across the state of Texas. The Johnson High School Colorguard has high expectations for another award winning winter guard season. The Colorguard is part of the Johnson Band and performs at all band events during marching season. The guard members then transition straight into the winter guard season that runs from November to April. [...]

Capping off a record-setting fall marching season, the Johnson band finished eighth nationally in November in its first trip to the Bands of America Grand National Championships. Arising from a field of 93 bands from across the country, the 4-year-old Johnson band was recognized as the youngest school to make the finals at grand nats, held Nov. 11-12 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind.
