CTJ Fourth at BOA San Antonio; Up Next: Trip to Grand Nationals

Johnson Extends Streak of Top-Five Finishes At Alamodome to 5

In a power-packed finals competition at the Bands of America San Antonio Super Regional, the Claudia Taylor Johnson Marching Band and its fun, innovative and musically challenging show, "Flashdance," finished fourth in its final tune-up for the BOA Grand Nationals Championship.

The placement was CTJ's fourth top-five finish during the 2016 competition season, and its fifth consecutive top-five finish at the BOA San Antonio Super Regional. The finals competition at the Alamodome was among the most difficult in recent memory — one that some argued made BOA San Antonio a "second Grand Nationals." Twelve of the 14 finalists were ranked among the Top 30 nationally by Hornrank.com. Johnson's 89.70 finals score was its highest of the season, demonstrating fast, continued improvement heading into BOA Grand Nationals week. Fellow NEISD schools Ronald Reagan (8th place) and Winston Churchill (11th place) also made finals. Johnson begins its run for the Grand Nationals title on Friday, November 11, with a 12:30 p.m. performance in preliminaries competition at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
