Alan Sharps, Claudia Taylor Johnson associate director of bands, has been recognized with the Texas PTA Lifetime Membership Award. For more than 90 years, Texas PTA has made available the Honorary Texas PTA Lifetime Membership award as one of the highest honors that may be presented to individuals for outstanding service to children and youth. Mr. Sharps regularly works 80-hour weeks on campus, arriving early in the morning and leaving late at night, in order to help students with additional tutoring on their instruments, or instructing our popular jazz band. He is a father figure for the students, as well as the other band directors on campus. He is always jovial, and always willing to help out however he can. He has a great knack for sound equipment, as he is also an amazing recording engineer, and shares these talents with other students on his own time when they are interested. North East ISD recognized Mr. Sharps at the annual NEISD Founder’s Day Celebration in February 2017.
